Become a Quitter: Join the Great American Smokeout This Year

admin - November 13, 2012

Become a Quitter: Join the Great American Smokeout | Life Line ScreeningThe American Cancer Society is marking the 37th Great American Smokeout this Thursday, November 15th by encouraging smokers to make a plan to quit or plan in advance to quit smoking that day.  By quitting, even for one day, smokers can take an important step towards a healthier life: one that can lead to reducing cancer risk.

Quitting may seem difficult, but you can increase your chances of success with a little help. Through anti-smoking programs, resources and support, the American Cancer Society can increase your chances of quitting successfully. Call the American Cancer Society (ACS) at 1-800-227-2345 or visit the Great American Smokeout page to find free tips and tools.

Also, if you’re a United Healthcare medical plan participant, you can use the online Smoking Cessation Coaching Program located on the myuhc.com site to help you quit smoking.

It’s not impossible to quit smoking and the encouragement and support from friends and family can make it a little easier. Share this information with your loved ones who need help quitting today.
