Dr. Oz discussed stroke and its many risks on his show Thursday, October 21, 2010, in a segment called Dr. Oz Sounds the Stroke Siren.
In the list of risk factors, Dr. Oz highlighted carotid artery stenosis and atrial fibrillation as two of the underlying causes. He also noted that, “Strokes strike out of the blue, without warning and can happen to anyone, even people who are healthy.”
Getting key screenings for these underlying conditions is one way to find out your risk before a stroke strikes. In addition, it is important to maintain healthy lifestyle and make sure to Know Your 5 to check for other risk factors. The Know Your 5 tests include cholesterol, glucose, waist circumference, blood pressure and weight.
Stroke is the third leading cause of death and a leading cause of adult disability. Life Line Screening is pleased to work with and support Dr. Oz in his mission of prevention and wellness.
